Connection Technology

PCB terminal blocks are divided into two clamp types: screw technology and spring terminal technology. These systems use the same method to hold the wire in position as used for the connectors in a PCB multi-connector.

Screw technology makes use of three connection types: wire guard, lift and excenter. In most cases, the connectors in a PCB multi-connector are manufactured in blocks and are available as various connection types with spacing from 3.5 mm up to 15.24 mm, in metric and inches, and in different colours.

PCB terminal blocks are often manufactured as 2- and 3-pole terminals in modular constructions. By using the so-called dovetail connection, the blocks can be flexibly linked together to create larger terminals. Individual series are also available as block designs. PCB terminal blocks with screw technology using the different connection types are available with spacing from 2.54 mm to 15.24 mm, in metric and inches, and in different colours.

Spring terminal technology is divided into push-in (leg-spring) technology and the tension spring principle. In most cases, the connectors in a PCB multi-connector are manufactured as blocks. Connectors using spring terminal technology for both connection types are available with spacing from 3.5 mm to 15.24 mm, in metric and inches, and in different colours.

PCB terminal blocks with push-in design are manufactured in blocks or in layers. PCB terminal blocks which make use of the tension spring principle, however, are only manufactured in layers.

PCB terminal blocks in layers can be linked flexibly to produce the required number of poles. This means that different colours can be mixed within a PCB terminal block. PCB terminal blocks with spring terminal technology using both connection types available with spacing from 2.5 m to 11.5 mm, in metric and inches, in different colours.
